We have the sad duty to inform you that Ivo Stanek died quiet and peaceful in the bosom of his family on July 12, 2006 after receiving the Last Sacrements by a priest, an old schoolmate of his.

Ivo Stanek always was an excellent business partner as well as a friend you could count on. He was the moving spirit in trying to bring together the countries of the danube region; he did so by co-organizing the danube region business conferences - their primary goal always has been to discuss and formulate practical solutions to be presented to the governmental authorities.

As a former advisor to the board of managing directors of the Bank Austria Creditanstalt and a member of the Club of Rome he had best contacts to the East European region. A good part of his ideas, which were discussed in the five conferences in vienna, bucarest and in belgrade, were implemented to everybody's benefit.

By his examplary pioneer work and his initiatives many investments of austrian enterprises in south-eastern europe became a huge success.

All of us, who had the pleasure to work with Ivo Stanek over the years, are grateful for his dedication, his endurance and his neverending ambition to assist and support the coherence of the countries of the danube region in economic affairs.

By his passing-away he was torn out of the preparations for the DRBC 6.

He will always be kept in good memory, because we have not only lost an excellent organiser but also a dear friend who will be missed painfully.
