It is with pride that we continue the tradition of the five Danube Region Business Conferences, which have taken place since 1998.

From the beginning the main goal of these international gatherings of representatives of business and finance, governmental, regional and local administrations, non-governmental institutions, and academia, was to discuss and formulate practical solutions for the necessary environment of harmonisation and for the solution of common problems to be presented to the authorities.

The historic, cultural, social and economic framework of the Danube Region contributes to a better understanding and cooperation within the European Union.

The concept of the DRBC's as an economic project within the endeavours of the Danube Cooperation Process was adopted on the 1st Ministerial Conference in Vienna in 2002.

The main topics of all five DRBC's so far, were Banking and Finance, Infrastructure with special concentration on the Danube within the European networks, Water-management and Environment, Education and Learning, Tourism and Culture and last but not least the Cooperation between Science and Business and are as up-to-date, as they were at the beginning.

We therefore thank the great number of experts who have contributed to produce results, which have helped to assist the process of Economic Development in this important Region of Europe.

At the same time we would like to invite everyone who can contribute to the above goals to the

6th Danube Region Business Conference (DRBC 6)

which will take place in fall 2007.

We will keep you informed on the progress of the preparations for the next Conference.
